Open Script is an open forum for artists to explore and chronicle their ideas with any media in a gallery setting over a period of 60 days. Work may shift, expand,multiply, disappear or change as each artist chooses. With consideration to our current times, characterized by novel and constant shifts and the changing face of connection and communication, this exhibit was designed to provide a flexible, immersive interface for both artist and audience.

Arkora Music’s Second Installation of Transfigured Light…‘PROVERB’ Not to be missed!
(Galen Felde – Promo image)
Transfigured Light is a project exploring dichotomies of transformation – death and rebirth, light and darkness – in new and historical choral works. This phase of project centres around a rare Vancouver performance of Steve Reich’s Proverb and pairs rarely performed Renaissance and Medieval works with world premieres by composers Fay Kueen Wang, Tova Kardonne, Jonathan Wild, Noah Meites, and Benton Roark. The newly-commissioned works are composed for Arkora’s expanded format consisting of eight voices, electric guitar, violin, cello, keyboards, percussion, and hand-built microtonal instruments.

‘Indelible’ Part of the Ice Box Gallery Preview Group Exhibit
@321 Railway St. Nov-Dec, 2017 – Elizabeth Peterson, Curator
Indelible – acrylic on panel – 24″x48″ – ©2017 GF
‘Indelible’ was created as an ode to my 2007 painting ‘Difficult Tale’ (below), which was taken from our gallery earlier this year. I chose to anchor this already composite tree-form as a mirror image in an imagined landscape, comprised of fragments of earlier paintings and my photo journals. So much of my work is based on document and the reconstruction of memory, that the process of resurrecting and replanting this lost element generated a strange, real-time looping, echoing and galvanizing of my own narrative with the core themes that I explore.
